No matter what your favorite football team is, we all agree that the final match of the Champions League 2016 on Saturday 28 May will be exciting. And it is a source of pride for all Spaniards and especially for the “madrileños” the fact that this final will be decided between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. The adrenaline and the party is assured in the capital, and although we focus on language teaching, our link with the city of Madrid makes it a special occasion for us too.
Some lucky people already have their ticket for the live game in Milan, but those who are in Madrid also have options to enjoy the game.
For fans of Real Madrid, there will be giant screens at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium (page in Spanish), and the company of hundreds of other “madridistas”. Club members can purchase tickets at a preferential price of 5 euros for 2 people using their membership card, while the general public can buy tickets on the website of the club at a price of 5 euros per person. Fans of Atletico Madrid will have a more modest scenario, the Barclays Center multi-purpose venue (page in Spanish). Normal entries will have a single price of 5 euros, and numbered entries will cost 15 euros plus booking fee. View map of Barclays Center Madrid.
If tickets are sold out, don’t worry: there will be hundreds of bars in Madrid where you can watch the match, besides enjoying drinks and typical tapas. The match will start at 9:45 pm, but you should arrive before wherever you go, to ensure a good spot. The match will also be broadcasted on the television channel Antena 3, beginning at 7:15 p.m.
