The Palace of the “Congreso de los Diputados” (Congress of the Deputies, similar to the House of Representatives or the House of Commons) occupies a beautiful building of neoclassical style built between 1843 and 1850, work of the architect Narciso Pascual y Colomer. Among the works, it houses inside are the Corinthian columns of its entrnace, the magnificent bronze door, made by José María Sánchez Pescador and the lions, the work of Ponciano Ponzano, cast in bronze in the Maestranza of Seville in 1866. The hall of conferences, the “Salón de los Pasos Perdidos” (Hall of the Lost Steps), rooms that lead to the Hemicycle. Furniture, carpets, painting, sculpture, are part of the collection.
