The next Saturday, April 23, the International Book Day is celebrated in Madrid. This year’s event will be even more special because it coincides with the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes. The Community of Madrid together with municipalities, will promote more than 500 events in 43 cities across the region.
As traditionally at this time, on 22 April, they organize the Night of Books in Madrid, when “books go out to meet readers through the streets of Madrid”. There will be readings, debates, workshops, theater, plus discounts on all bookstores in city center.

This year the International Book Day features the guided visit by Convent of the Trinitarias where Cervantes is buried, which also coincides with a large number of events for the Cervantes Festival in the Barrio de las Letras visit highlights. It starts the day 22, but runs until December 31.
So between Friday 22 and Saturday 23, the book lovers have an unmissable meeting in the center of Madrid, where they can combine culture and fun through various proposals in different parts of the city.
