From June to September, Madrid will host one of the most eagerly-anticipated events in its cultural calendar: a new edition of its most participative summer festival, featuring an endless range of outdoor activities in the city’s various neighbourhoods.
In 2019, further to its mission of sharing culture with all members of the public in every one of the city’s neighbourhoods, Veranos de la Villa will extend to Madrid’s 21 districts with a programme encompassing a total of 90 activities, most of them free of charge, which will take place in 60 different venues all over the city. Best of all is that most of the activities are free, arguably 80%. The rest of activities are quite affordable for residents and tourists or visitors.
A good part of the scheduled activities are participatory, such as the Zarzuela concerts by bicycle, kite flying, ballroom dancing in front of the Royal Palace and Salsa in the Plaza de la Remonta. All other activities can be enjoyed from the other side of the stage, that is, part of the public, such as dance, theater, cinema and music. Music shows are expected to have the largest participation, due to the diversity of musicians and artists attending.
The official program of Veranos de la Villa 2019 is already published, here you can watch a video of Veranos de la Villa 2018.
As you can see, this program is designed for everyone. Madrid is a city that currently lives transformation times, and it’s also worth a Veranos de la Villa that are consistent with these changes. The intention is to ensure that all citizens of Madrid can better know their own city, meet each other, share with visitors or relatives from around the world, plus enjoy the artistic diversity in any of the neighborhoods of the city. This Veranos de la Villa 2019 seeks, in addition to entertainment, a better living for everyone.
