At the annual meeting of the Instituto Cervantes Board of Trustees, which has just taken place in the Royal Palace of El Pardo, the inclusion of Doña María del Carmen Timor, representing FEDELE, as a member of this institution has been made official.
As is well known, the Board of Trustees of the Instituto Cervantes acts as a guiding body for the institution’s activities. In addition to the honorary presidency of His Majesty the King and the executive presidency of the President of the Government the Board of Trustees has a number of members who have been chosen from among representatives of Spanish literature and culture, as well as from the Royal Academies, universities and other institutions related to its social objective, as is the case of FEDELE.
This meeting was led by His Majesty the King, Don Felipe de Borbón, as President of the Board of Trustees, the Queen Doña Letizia and the President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, and was attended by the foreign affairs ministers, José Manuel García-Margallo, and of Education, José Ignacio Wert, as well as the Director of the Cervantes Institute, Víctor García de la Concha.
During the ceremony, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia took the opportunity to greet each of the members of the Cervantes Institute’s Board of Trustees, including our president.
In his speech, the King pointed out the relationship that the Royal House maintains with the Instituto Cervantes, with different types of activities such as the inauguration of new venues or the annual meetings of directors. The King declared that this institution “has deservedly achieved a very high prestige, becoming the vanguard of the best image of Spain, of its historical reality and its plural culture”.
