Hello everyone! My name is Rafa and I am a teacher of Spanish as a foreign language. I graduated in East Asian Studies from the Universidad de Sevilla and, later on, I did a Master’s Degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language at the Universidad Internacional de La Rioja. Thanks to my university studies I have had the opportunity to know in depth the cultural codes of Southeast Asian countries, which has allowed me to have a more global vision of the world around us. It was precisely during my international mobility in Beijing that I discovered my passion for teaching Spanish, which is why I decided to specialize in this field. Throughout my experience as a Spanish teacher, both in online and face-to-face classes, I have been able to meet students from practically all over the world.

For me, a language class is the perfect environment in which to share our own experiences in the context in which we have grown up. It is a space where the cultures of different countries come into contact. The teaching of a language, in my opinion, should always be accompanied by the context of the speakers themselves, because learning a language in isolation without culture will allow us to talk to people, but not to communicate.

My favorite word in Spanish is “empatía” (empathy), a basic element in any area of our daily lives.
