Orientation on site

For Semester students, a Weekend orientation service is offered to help student adjust to a new city and country with ease. Students will spend the weekend together in a hotel or hostal before going to their host families.

This is not a guided tour of the city but a practical orientation on how the city works and its daily routines.

Students buy their cell phones, learn the transport system of the buses and metro, learn to find their bearings with Madrid´s map, navigate around the school’s area and their neighbourhoods, visit shops and restaurants, etc.

Students that take part in our orientation weekend suffer little or no cultural shock and are generally more confident and comfortable in Madrid.

Schedule (this may vary in accordance with the dates of the program of each semester):

  • Arrival on Thursday: this is the day to adjust to the time difference;
  • Friday and Saturday – practical walking tour in the school’s surroundings and neighbourhoods;
  • Sunday – Students are accompanied to the host family when they officially move in.

For Summer and month-long courses, an orientation afternoon and evening are available to acquaint the student with the school and housing areas, the transport system and other practical necessities.
